We have no government. June 8, 2008

In light of recent events i have been moved to write this post.

Firstly let me say something about the crime. Now this thing seems to have gone out of hand, it appears to be worst. In my honest opinion, thats not the case. The disregard for law and order has been around for years and recent events haven’t convinced me that things are worst than before. However the trouble I’m having with this issue is the response of the “government”. Coming up with a plan to fight crime is not their responsibility, its the responsibility of the government. I take it that should the police be overwhelmed the “government” wouldn’t be moved to action. I take this to mean also that whatever plans they said that they would put in place to tackle crime in the first place was just another lie by a politician.

Next issue, the bus strike. How can a country function when the capital city is immobilized by a strike of the state run bus company? How long should those of us who depend on the bus system wait until normality is restored? Its not as if it was the highly effective in the first place but at least people could get around. Where is the intervention? We have a transport ministry. Is the ministry only involved in the setting up of new fees for the licensing of coaster buses, taxis, and route vehicles?

Its such a pity, but there was a big deal made about change and so far we have seen a change. However, I can’t say that I see a positive future with this passive type of leadership.
